BL in the Press: Tennessee Bets Big on Personalized Learning, Launching Pilot Program & Eyeing Big 2020 Goals

Since 2015, the Tennessee Department of Education has been on a mission to raise its school system to the top 25 in the nation. This campaign focuses on investments in five key areas: early literacy, postsecondary completion, district empowerment, individualized learning and educator support.

Today, The 74 highlighted TNDOE’s work with BetterLesson to equip and empower educators with the skills to deploy personalized learning in upper school math classes. The department hopes the pilot program will “help reduce the achievement gap, increase student test scores, and boost student engagement.”

Teachers are reporting increased student engagement and administrators are seeing improvements in student outcomes. District officials are hoping to scales these outcomes by adding 50 teachers to the cohort for the 2017-2018 school year.
