Facilitating Problem Based Activities with the 5 Practices with Kiddom

Focus Area: Kiddom
Attendees:

Instructional Coaches, Teachers

Phase: Targeted Support

Available July 2024

Overview

Problem-based instruction is driven by student ideas and strategies that arise when they work on rich mathematical tasks. Teachers create the conditions to solicit these ideas and intentionally use them as part of learning for the whole class. As part of the virtual launch series, this workshop focuses on how activities are structured and how the embedded 5 Practices guidance provides a framework for organizing student discussion and learning activities.

Outcome

I use the curriculum resources and structures in Kiddom to teach math with a problem-based approach.
