Focus Area: Student-Centered Mathematics
Attendees:

Instructional Coaches, Teachers

Phase: Targeted Support

Available July 2024

Overview

The 5 Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematical Discussions ask teachers to balance various student ideas along with the learning goals of a lesson in real-time. To do this, teachers intentionally select and sequence student ideas to deepen learning for the whole class. In this 2-hour virtual workshop, teachers will unpack the final 3 practices of selecting, sequencing, and connecting, as well as reflect on their learning about all 5 Practices throughout the series.

Outcome

I facilitate mathematical discourse that deepens student understanding.
