In the cyclical process of formative assessment and differentiation, teachers use assessment measures that are folded into instruction and contribute to learning, partner with students in monitoring and understanding their learning progress, and use assessment data of all types to inform decisions about differentiated instruction. Through this cycle, teachers check student learning, create a culture of feedback, provide learning that meets students’ needs, and close the opportunity gap. In this 1-day workshop, participants will define the importance of student-centered formative assessments that create opportunities for learning, explore strategies and tools for formative assessment and differentiation, and build a strategic plan to incorporate routines for formative assessment and differentiation within classroom practices.
This workshop is designed for K-12 educators and support staff.
