As teachers, one of our most sacred roles is designing meaningful learning. Increasingly, research shows the connection between this intentional design of outcomes and tasks that prioritize the student learning environment and experience. Centering students as we design learning helps ensure high engagement and deep learning, while accounting for the variability of daily classroom life. In this virtual workshop, we will define what it means to design student centered lessons, as well as explore planning best practices, no matter what format, template, or content you use.
This workshop is optimized for classroom teachers and para-educators, as well as instructional coaches. This is not meant to replace existing planning expectations by a district, but rather to unpack key ideas in backwards design.
I integrate supports that enable all students to access key concepts.
