Overview

In this interactive, virtual workshop, participants will review language levels of students and what students can do at each level. From there, participants will review the 4 main areas that ELs need support: vocabulary development, building background knowledge, language practice and writing support. Understanding these key focus areas will support participants to explore strategies based on what their ELs need. These strategies will go beyond sentence frames and words walls to more advanced level strategies. Then they will have time to collaboratively plan for implementing one strategy based on their students’ linguistic needs.

Audience

Classroom teachers and instructional coaches who work with English learners on a daily basis.
