Overview

The population of English learners in classrooms is increasing each year and in order for educators to be successful in supporting ELs to develop English language proficiency, they must have an understanding of English Language Development Standards.  During this introductory workshop, educators will explore the WIDA ELD Framework and the key principles of language development. While building this foundational knowledge, educators will learn what the  key language uses are and how they apply to all content areas.  By the end of this session educators will be able to access and interpret the ELD Standards through the lens of key language use and begin to think about how to apply their new learning to instruction with their students.

Audience

This workshop is designed for K-12 classroom educators who are responsible for daily instruction of ELs.  This is for districts and schools who utilize the WIDA ACCESS Assessment and WIDA English Language Development Standards (see map of consortium states here).
