New Online Instructional Strategies to Inspire and Engage Teachers, Administrators

BetterLesson

Ready-to-use resources focus on student-centered teaching to complement its award-winning lesson plan portal

September 2018 – Cambridge, MA – Educators from coast to coast and around the world now have access to a fresh collection of 100 free instructional strategies from BetterLesson to make a greater impact in the classroom, just in time for the new school year.

These high-impact instructional strategies come from BetterLesson’s professional development practice, BetterLesson Coaching. Each strategy provides step-by-step guidance and ready-to-use resources to support teacher growth in areas supported by BetterLesson’s instructional coaches, such as student-centered teaching, project-based learning, and culturally responsive teaching methods.

The strategies provide guidance for a variety of classroom activities and strategic interventions, such as starting the day with a Morning Meeting to build classroom culture, providing differentiated group support with Mild, Medium, and Spicy Strategic Grouping, and celebrating student accomplishments with a Positive News Board.

The strategies are further supplemented with downloadable templates, student work samples, and adaptations to support different contexts and student populations, including English learners and students with disabilities. Many strategies feature videos of teachers in action, related tech tools for blended classrooms, and alignment to Danielson’s Framework for Teaching.
