In this interactive, in-person workshop, participants will understand the overall structure of the OpenSciEd curriculum and the instructional practices that the curriculum is built on, and participate in part of an OpenSciEd unit to gain understanding of the student experience. By the end of these workshops, participants will be prepared to get started with the units of the OpenSciEd curriculum.

We recommend that participants engage in Launching the OpenSciEd curriculum as a two-day learning experience. This can be followed by the Going Deeper with OpenSciEd 2-day workshop to build more understanding.
These workshops are designed for middle school teachers and support staff who are in the beginning stages of implementing the OpenSciEd curriculum. This launch focuses on OpenSciEd Unit 6.1 as an introductory unit to give participants an understanding of the structure of the curriculum while having a shared experience within a scaffolded unit.
