Overview

The 5 Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematical Discussions ask teachers to balance various student ideas along with the learning goals of a lesson in real time. The success of this work depends on the level of planning and anticipation teachers do before their students are in front of them. In this 2-hour virtual workshop, teachers will unpack the first 2 practices of anticipating and monitoring student strategies while leveraging the embedded support in the teacher guide.

This workshop can be taken as a stand alone or as part of a series that explores all 5 Practices. Explore all sessions of this series below:

• Session 1: Planning Activities with the 5 Practices (OUR Math 6-8)
  
• Session 2: Planning for Learning with Anticipating & Monitoring (OUR Math 6-8)
• Session 3: Facilitating Discourse with Selecting, Sequencing, & Connecting (OUR Math 6-8)

• Participants will need a computer with access to Zoom, a camera, a microphone, and stable Internet connectivity
